Abstract:
Ideal learning is characterized by very active learning activities and students' proficiency in mastering writing skills. However, in reality, students' activities and mastery of writing skills are not as expected, this is because the methods used when learning are still one-way, learning is less meaningful so students are not able to find ideas/ideas in writing form, students' writing interest is low because they use multiple choice questions, students are still not correct in determining word selection (diction) in a sentence, improper placement of punctuation and not understanding what a nonfiction story is. This study aims to determine the increase in learning activities and writing skills of elementary school students using the PROTON model. This research uses a qualitative research approach with a type of research in the form of Class Action Research consisting of four meetings, data analysis using two ways, namely carried out qualitatively and quantitatively. The results showed that by using the PROTON model on the content of the Indonesian Theme of our Friendly Environment there was an increase in student learning activities at the fourth meeting, namely 87.5% with a very active category and in the writing skills of students at the fourth meeting as much as 93.75% with an excellent category. The results of this study are expected to be used as an alternative in increasing learning activities and writing skills of elementary school students, especially on the content Indonesian the Theme of Our Friendly Environment in grade 5.
