INTERVENTIONS RELATED TO SOLVING PROBLEM BEHAVIOUR OF PUPILS IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC

Abstract:
The article focuses on the occurrence and specifics of solving problematic behaviour in pupils of primary schools in the Czech Republic. Problematic behaviour is currently a daily and common affair of many schools. In some cases, the teacher himself is able to solve this behaviour, but, in many cases he turns to a school consulting facility, a team of experts acting inside the school, searching for a competent solution of the unexpected situation.
The paper presents research, its outputs and possible applications in the field of special education. The main aim of our research is to analyze the process of intervention concerning to problem behavior of pupils in primary schools.
The research sample include 80% (N = 20) members of the school counseling facilities of six public primary schools with population of 4652 pupils at the age of 6 to 15 in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic.
Research is based on qualitative design, data was collected by technique of interviewing focus groups (6), for interpretation was used open coding of the grounded theory. Main principles of the focus group method are built on a moderator-controlled discussion that involves a particular person and is a representative of the target group. The advantage of focus groups is the large amount of data collected while observing respondents' behavior during the discussion. Our structured focus groups had clearly defined five topics and their order in advance. The topics of our research concern: occurrence of problem behavior in schools, intervention of their solutions, cooperation of members of school counseling centers, cooperation of pupils and their parents, prevention of problem behavior.
