Abstract:
The quality of public spaces and urban green infrastructure represents one of the key factors for the satisfaction of the city's population with their urban environment. The definition and assessment of the quality of life is specified as a reflection of the relationship between objective environmental parameters and subjective user responses to them. The research presented in the paper examines which open public spaces are attractive for their users and how they can contribute to the liveability of a whole city. Urban green and blue infrastructure represents the core aspect of such perception. Application of new technologies of urban digitalisation and challenge-driven co-creation enhances the research methodology on the liveability of open public spaces in the cities. This process deepens the knowledge gained in the final urban design studio thesis through the subsequent dissertation work on the issue of liveability, users satisfaction and the optimal design principles of urban open spaces in Slovak city of Martin.
