Abstract:
The development of financial literacy and financial education nowadays is considered to have a significant impact on our lives. This fact can be reflected in implementation of specific school subjects focusing on financial education in educational system also in cooperation with various institutions including the Ministry of Education, different Banking Association or organization. Within Slovakia there are few institutions basically focused on this area such as the Slovak Banking Association and also Junior Achievement organization which had introduced the all-year education program of financial literacy. The program is very motivating for students not only at secondary schools but also at universities. The innovative elements of the educational system are online learning and e-learning techniques that can help students to increase their economic education and also profit from a technology - economist connection that according to labour office statistics is demanded nowadays on a labour market. This paper points to the theoretical background in the field and examines the level of financial literacy at the Technical University where the studied sample of students are technically oriented students. The paper also includes the results of research since the introduction of the subject of financial literacy at the Faculty of Chemical and Food Technology of the Technical university of Slovakia (FCHPT STU) in Bratislava, acquired in the framework of the training after the launch of the online program Junior Achievement Slovakia - "More than Money".
