Abstract:

As the title suggests, the present paper deals with corpus and Corpus linguistics and their application in different fields of study. These may be for example linguistic application, lexicographic application, computer application and educational application. Last but not least, translation application is defined. That is why our main focus is put on the relationship between Corpus linguistics and Translation studies. The paper further explains the role and the functions of Corpus linguistics in Translation studies primarily in translation research, translation education and translator practice as well. Then, methodology is given in order to look at the topic from the practical viewpoint. It is divided as follows: the research aim, the research material, the research questions and finally the research results. The research aim is to analyse the chosen literary text using the corpus method. Since our idea is to work with any kind of a literary text, the research material used is the Grimm´s fairy tales. In conclusion, our findings are shortly summarised.
