Abstract:
Creativity is commonly regarded as the competence of the 21st century, one allowing for solving of complex problems of today’s world as well as preparing us to deal with obstacles future is yet to reveal. It is a competence that formal higher education should impart unto students.
This article presents the research results on level of creativity competence among students of Polish universities/higher education institutions preparing to become teachers. The goal of our research was to diagnose and describe the level of creativity competence among those students. It took into account such variables as: gender, place of origin, mode of study, type of educational institution, field of study. It was assumed that creativity ought to be manifested at a high level by students of all listed educational institutions and fields of study.
The research method used was a survey (quantitative strategy) and a test developed for the needs of the study was used. 500 students participated in the study. The research indicates that the field of study and type of educational institution are important for acquiring and developing the competence of creativity.Keywords:
