Abstract:
This study evaluates the integration of blockchain technology into educational gaming, examining its positive and negative aspects. Adhering to the PRISMA protocol, our systematic literature review explores how blockchain technology impacts educational experiences in gaming. We focus on advantages like decentralized ownership, secure data management, and transparent incentive systems, alongside challenges such as content control and the representation of game assets within blockchain ecosystems. The results reveal significant benefits of blockchain in enhancing educational gaming environments, fostering a deeper understanding of complex concepts, and incentivizing participation. However, we also identify limitations related to scalability and user adoption. Our conclusions highlight the potential for blockchain-based educational games to change learning paradigms but emphasize the need for further research and development to address current challenges.
