Abstract:
The pharmacy graduate is a professional with a scientific-technical and health profile. Within the profile of competences to which the degree in pharmacy qualifies, pharmacists can develop functions or activities in food safety, occupational health, health promotion and disease prevention, especially in the field of environmental health, and collaborate in the activities of the different levels of pharmaceutical care.

In the subject called health services, the student must acquire the knowledge and practice of the essential methodological tools in the field of Public Health.

In the Valencian Community, the competence of inspection of desalination plants is held by pharmacists of health administration and public health, for this reason it is important that in the degree of pharmacy and in the subject public health some credits are dedicated to their knowledge.

The objectives of the practice were:
- To learn about all the stages of the reverse osmosis desalination process.
- To tour the facilities, live, of a real plant in which experts in the integral water cycle will explain the complete process.
- To study the importance of the proper disposal of the reject water or brine.
- To explain the complete process of salt water treatment to obtain water for human consumption that is used in the production of drinking water.

In order to achieve the objectives, a live virtual visit was carried out from the classroom of the Miguel Hernández University, in which one hundred students of the subject participated. During the session, University professors and experts in the integral water cycle intervened.
