Abstract:
In recent years, the implementation of new teaching methodologies capable of enhancing students' motivation and learning when facing theoretical and practical sessions at the university is being promoted. The use of methodologies such as project-based learning and cooperative learning has been widely demonstrated as effective techniques to improve student learning. In this case, the goal is to promote and incorporate applied research projects into these methodologies, where students must design and conduct experiments to solve real problems related to the treated subjects. Specifically, the selected subjects for implementing this methodology are related to the development and manufacturing of products and prototypes of various kinds, allowing for synergy between them to carry out a common project by implementing research-focused projects and the development of new processes and materials.
The main objective of this research-based methodology is to enhance student motivation by linking the content of various subjects focused on product development, prototypes, and manufacturing with new knowledge and research. Students will have to investigate and inquire to solve a real project. Innovation in areas such as packaging, polymeric materials, and computer-aided manufacturing are highly relevant topics in today's industry and society. Therefore, this project is about bringing together the various subjects of the industrial design degree that work with these concepts so that students can understand in a much more practical way the real possibilities and innovation that exist in these sectors.
With the implementation of this innovative methodology, the aim is not only to increase student motivation in various subjects of the Industrial Design Degree but also to promote interaction between various subjects, recreate a real work environment within the classroom, encourage the use of new technologies for self-learning, enhance collaborative problem-solving skills through research, and improve students' social and communication skills. It should be noted that the implementation of these methodologies directly aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SDG number four objective focuses on providing quality education and increasing the number of people with skills for employment and entrepreneurship. By implementing this learning method, students have the opportunity to develop practical skills that are relevant to the industry, making them more suitable and qualified to contribute to the society of the future. Keywords:
