Abstract:
With the aim of improving the quality of student learning, the Project Based Learning (PBL) methodology has been implemented in different subjects of the production and innovation mention, and general subjects within the Degree in Industrial Design and Product Development Engineering. The main objective of this modification is to adapt these subjects to the new emerging trends in education, seeking learning environments with a greater motivational load. In this case, the subjects selected to implement the ABP methodology are related to the development and manufacture of products and prototypes of different kinds, which allows creating a synergy between them to carry out a common project through the implementation of the ABP methodology.

As mentioned above, the aim is to boost the motivation of the students, relating the contents of various subjects in the area of materials, prototypes and manufacturing, where the students will have to collaborate to solve a real joint project. Within this methodology, different roles have been established for each group of students, which must remain unchanged throughout the different subjects. This will allow students to be directly involved in their joint work, valuing and having a real perspective of the problems and solutions that are generated and raised throughout the course of the subject.

The use of this methodology aims to promote several important points in the present day, such as the circular economy, the reduction of the carbon footprint and the involvement of engineers in the near future. The aim is for these projects to be highly related to real industry, giving students the opportunity to work in a similar way to a company, allowing them to see their results directly. It is intended that the students generate a very positive learning network for them, capable of fostering their interest and desire to learn. This combination allows students to see what are the main problems that arise during the different processes within the internship and the overall project, allowing them to participate in a very direct way in their learning process.
