Abstract:
Currently, labor market in many countries, including Russia, is in challenging situation with the employment of young people. This confirms a steady trend of rising unemployment among first-time job seekers or those who have brief work experience. According to the report of the General Director of the European Commission for Social Issues, Employment and Integration, unemployment among young people aged 15-24 years in the European Union countries in 2017 was 18.7%¸ that is almost double the similar figure for the adult population. In Russia, this figure is 23.3%. Lack of attention to this problem and the lack of measures for its solution lead to a reduction in the labor potential of young people, severe social consequences, and also to the regress of the economy as a whole. The increase in employment of young people will be faciltated by a set of measures aimed at a comprehensive study of this issue, justification and implementation of activities that contribute to improving the situation in this area. However, most studies in this sphere do not affect the motivational component of the employment of young generation representatives. The purpose of the study was to reduce unemployment among this age category on the basis of determining the motivational factors affecting the employment of young people. The research was carried out using the methods of questioning and interviews with subsequent economic and mathematical processing of the data. In total, the survey covered 86 school leavers, university entrants and university students (62% female and 38% male respectively). The obtained results made it possible to identify the main motivational factors of influence and, taking them into account, to formulate proposals and recommendations for the state bodies, employment services, employers dealing with the employment of young professionals, as well as for the heads of educational institutions. At the same time, since motivation is an internal characteristic of the individual, a number of questions on this problem have not been fully resolved. In particular, gender dependency is not revealed with motivational factors of employment, recommendations for educational institutions are not grounded in order to increase the social orientation of youth motivations, etc. The high significance of the problem under consideration indicates the need for continuing research in this field.
