Abstract:
The COVID-19 pandemic has created the largest disruption of education systems in history, affecting nearly 1.6 billion learners in more than 190 countries and all continents. Closures of schools and other learning spaces have impacted 94 per cent of the world’s student population. In response to school closures, the educational organizations recommend the use of distance learning programmes and open educational applications and platforms that schools and teachers can use to reach learners remotely and limit the disruption of education.

It's time to reconsider the benefits of using Mixed Reality (MR) for the needs of education. In recent years, MR applications changed our way of learning and thinking and removed the need for physical presence. In a time of world crisis, non-physical presence is a really important factor to keep both students and teachers in good health. Applications that use MR technology, particularly holographic techniques, to present educational content are one of the trendies way to continue the process of education.

A survey, conducted in University of Ruse, presents how MR applications can help teachers keep the quality of education. Teachers in various fields such as Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Health Care and Agricultural science were asked to give their opinion.

The survey results reveal important and interesting findings about teachers' interest in new technologies, how MR applications can improve quality of education in different areas of science, the most crucial features that such an application should contain according to the needs of the particular science area. The results are systematically organized and could be used for future development of an educational application that uses Mixed Reality technology.
