Abstract:
Introduction:
The modern period of development of society is characterized by the strong influence of computer technologies on it, which penetrate all spheres of human activity, ensure the spread of information flows in society, forming a global information space. Computerization of education is an integral and important part of these processes. The creation of an information society is an important development priority of the Russian Federation. At present, the legal basis of informatization processes has been formed, and the national information and communication infrastructure is developing, allowing to provide new telecommunication and information services.

Purpose:
The mass penetration of ICT into all spheres of society also creates the necessary incentives for its use in education. This study aims to consider the peculiarities of the use of information technologies in the educational system of the modern Russian Federation. The level of active involvement in the educational process of multimedia and interactive training tools, development of new electronic tools and technologies for organization of pedagogical activities is considered. In addition to the high degree of infrastructure development and readiness to use information technologies, the rate of growth and large volumes of knowledge, the increase of requirements to the level of humanitarian and professional competences necessary for successful self-realization, by students and society, exacerbate the problems of development of quality content of electronic education, effective use and staffing of modern technologies, information security.

Methods:
The methodological basis of the study is based on the application of the principles of objectivity and historism, which allow to consider phenomena in the natural historical development and dynamics of their change, as well as to analyze the objects of the study in connection with the specific historical conditions of their existence.The principle of comparative analysis was also used, which allows to highlight similarities and differences of methods used in modern Russia with the existing practice of the countries of Europe, where the development of application of information technologies in education is already much longer.

Results:
The high level of informatization of education will ensure the creation in the Russian Federation of the necessary conditions for improving the quality and accessibility of educational services, supporting the integration and high competitiveness of the national education system in the European and world educational space.

Conclusion:
A distinctive feature of the development of modern higher education is the changing content of education and teaching technologies, as new information technologies are being developed. Electronic means of supporting the educational process are of great importance in information educational technologies. The development and creation of electronic training software products accompanying the educational process in recent years has become one of the priority areas of educational activity in the modern Russian Federation.
