Abstract:
The paper is focused on the issue of education of students of the 2nd year of the Teacher Education Combined Master's degree programme at the Faculty of Humanities and Natural Sciences of the University of Prešov in Prešov. The author used the method of content analysis of preparation for the lesson to find out the level and reserves in pedagogical - didactic competences of the given students - future teachers. The content analysis was carried out on 189 preparations for the lesson, which were taught by the students and consulted by the trainee teacher during the pedagogical practice of the students in primary and secondary schools. The supplementary method of the conducted analysis was an interview with the students, which was conducted by the author during the state examination in pedagogy in the months of June, August 2022. The author concludes that the examined students in comparison with the students of the 3rd year of the teacher education programs of the bachelor degree at the PU in Presov do not have any significant reserves in the ability to correctly formulate teaching objectives. However, the problem of finding the educational significance of the curriculum, choosing and implementing teaching methods in such a way that would enable the development of students' critical thinking persists among students.
