Abstract:
This paper shows how the College of Medicine & Medical Sciences (CMMS) at the Arabian Gulf University (AGU) integrates Problem Based Learning (PBL) resources and -Web- Based Course Tools (WebCT) in teaching undergraduate premedical students. The case study will mainly be concentrated on Medical Physics, Computer Skills, Medical English and Biochemistry Pre-medical Modules (courses). For the purpose of the study, Problem Based Learning (PBL) and its associated Information Management System (IMS) used by medical intuitions, blended learning and WebCT as a learning management system will be highlighted. In the case study PBL represents the educational philosophy as well as a learning theory, while the Information Management System and Learning Management System (IMS and LMS) represents the tools for delivery, and the “blending process” repents the learning strategy. The focus of this work will mainly intend to show how medicine professionals can integrate the current e-learning information technologies into their teaching and training activities. The case study will provide a brief description of the purpose of PBL and WebCT at AGU, and the blending processes development. The focus will be on the outcomes of AGU pre-medical students as well as a selected sample from the (CMMS) evaluation of the blended learning strategy limited to the above mentioned modules “courses”.Keywords:
