Abstract:
In the arsenal of a good and experienced teacher, there is always a huge number of teaching methods, which is due to the emergence and improvement of technical means. It is this factor that gives us the opportunity to facilitate the learning process and increase pupils` motivation. Indeed, the use of technical means allows you to turn a foreign language lesson into an interesting and fascinating lesson. The leading role in learning a foreign language belongs to motivation. At the beginning of any new activity of a pupil, his motivation is usually quite high. He wants to obtain knowledge, trying to learn a new language, speak it and freely communicate. However, even with the prolonged work, motivation decreases, the incentive for learning activity disappears, and as a result poor performance, a negative impact on learning motives appear. The object of our study is to analyze videos and their impact on the older stages of education in a secondary school. The purpose of our article is to watch videos as a way to increase pupils` motivation. The objectives of our study include summarizing theoretical material by types of motivation, identifying principles for working with video films, detecting varieties of video materials, determining a set of exercises when using video at the lessons. The methodological basis of the study were the works of such methodologists as Elukhina N.V., Barmenkova O.I., Zimnaya I. A. , Solovova G. N., Rogova G.V. etc. The theoretical significance and novelty of the study lies in the fact that the material was generalized and a modern view of the problems of motivation when learning a foreign language in a secondary school was presented, as well as special exercises when working with videos were shown. In addition to this, it is possible to highlight the positive aspects of watching films, as this helps to solve several problems: obtaining more complete and reliable information about the studied object, satisfying the desires of pupils, activating learners, and intensifying the educational process.
