Abstract:
As globalization progress rapidly, we not only tend to share pros of globalization but we also experience the cons of it in its deepest sense. The realms of globalization inevitably affect education and it is necessary to negotiate the alternative perspectives to tackle with the problems that most of the educational systems face today. Era is changing but the way we solve the problems remain the same. As we are approaching to the second quarter part of the 21st century, we urgently need to change the ways we look and see the problems. In other words, we need a paradigm shift in our perspectives and approaches in seeing and solving the problems of the current era. Research on contemporary approaches and methods in studying the problems of present day lead us to consider the narrations of highly literate authors in the sense of gathering their perspective and reflecting them on the strategies we develop to tackle with the so-called educational problems of the current era. Imagology has taken place in social sciences for not a long time; however, has many applications and implications to various areas if the field of education. Imagology has multidimensional and interdisciplinary perspective that considers problems as a whole. In this study, concepts like “honor” and “honor killing” from Gabriel García Márquez’s narrative will be investigated through an imago-logic approach and images used in the narration will be unpacked by considering the cultural and sociological realms of the actual era.

The events and concepts about honor, as mentioned out by Gabriel García Marquez, will also be evaluated on the basis of cause and effect circle. The powerful, solid, vivid, and multidimensional connections between literature, life and the quality of education is the heart of the approach, which will guide us to tackle with the problems we all encounter in this global village. How we see and evaluate our surroundings is the most important part of the story. As we all know, education, as a key player in shaping perspectives, is being affected by the forces of globalization, and education with its actual aim in transferring culture to next generations fail the mission. However, we also believe that like many other authors, Gabriel García Marquez’s piece entitled ‘Red Monday’ unpacks the relationships among literature, life and the quality of education. The key suggested here is imagology. The use of imagology creates a unique perspective in person to see and evaluate the problem.

In this theoretical paper we create an outlook, an intellectual home and a perspective to be used as a tool to fight back with the cons of globalizations. This research, in turn, will provide the audiences with opportunities to see how barriers in learning were solved by the educators of the era and will lead us to judge the opportunities we have today to solve the common problems in education.
