Abstract:
In the new era of the knowledge economy, the development of productive, technological and innovative capacities are transcendental for any country. The generation of innovations and economically useful knowledge occurs in a context of agglomerations, in a local and regional network where the interaction of the productive agents occurs almost naturally while interacting with the global.

Universities and research centers play a very important role as agents of economic and social development since the second half of the 20th century, in which the importance of knowledge has been increasing as an engine of economic and social development, so that society has been increasing the perception about the role of the university and its tasks, but also the level of demand with respect to them.

As universities and public research centers have increased their capacity to generate new knowledge, both in quantity and quality, the demand for a return has been increasing, for the benefit of society that makes the research activity possible, for the most part through public budgets earmarked for this purpose.

The transfer of technology and knowledge is an instrument of innovation, one of the ways in which public R & D is transferred to the market, giving rise to new products or services or improving existing ones. That is, the transfer of technology is one of the sources of innovation for companies.

This paper presents the analysis and evaluation of successful experiences of technology transfer and knowledge of different higher education institutions (HEIs) in Mexico that allow us to propose a useful model to transfer knowledge and technology generated by HEIs to the productive and social sectors.
