Abstract:
Artificial Intelligence is one of the key technologies of the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0), which is gradually used in more and more numerous activities concerning educational purposes. Physical Sciences like Physics and Chemistry are basic sciences, which are taught in most countries of our world. In this paper, we present the architecture of an innovative system, based on Artificial Intelligence, for assisting the effective teaching and learning of Physical Sciences. The system operates as a digital assistant (agent), both for the instructor and the learner. The main functions of the system include the identification of each learner's learning difficulties, the creation of an educational profile for each learner, the selection of the optimal teaching method for each learner, and the selection of the suitable educational content specifically for each learner. Also, the system provides the instructor with detailed information regarding the learning progress of each learner. Access to the system is achieved through mobile devices (smartphones, tablets, etc). The work presented in this article is a part of the ASPYS research project.
