Abstract:
The crisis of COVID-19 has triggered the need for all governments to shelter the entire community, so universities around the world have moved students and courses online for a long time. Moving from a classroom to an online meet has been and is a challenge for everyone involved - teachers who need to work harder to engage students effectively, but also students who need to make an extra effort to stay engaged in the middle of these courses, from home of course.

The challenges faced by universities in the context of the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic are related to the insufficiently developed skills of teachers for the effective organization of distance learning/ online, the identification / use/ development of educational resources and de keeping students engaged. This study conducted at the Faculty of Engineering at “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu, Romania presents some of the teaching / distance learning tools used by teachers, tools that have proven effective in maintaining the interest and involvement of students. After an analysis of the online platforms that can be used in the university educational environment, the authors present different teaching methods used in specialized disciplines, as well as the results of a survey on the opinion of students on online learning.
