Abstract:
In this study, vision, aims, strands, approaches and methodologies and the techniques of assessment of Turkey Social Studies program have been compared with Finland Social Studies program and the similarities and differences have been determined. The aim of this study is to contribute to improve the 2004 Turkey Social Studies program by defining the shortcomings.

By using Qualitative method, the data gathered from literature review to carry out a comparative study. With this comparative study, it is aimed to contribute to literature. Also some similarities and differences between the dimensions of vision, aims, strands, approaches and methodologies and the techniques of assessment of Turkey Social Studies and the mentioned country Social Studies program have been determined. In the light of the data gathered through literature, in addition to Turkey Social Studies program being acceptable according to the era and the Social Studies standards of the world, because of the differences with the mentioned country it can be said that Turkey Social Studies program should be improved in the areas of multiculturalism, active citizenship, anti-discrimination education, sustainability, critical view of history, current issues.
