Abstract:
The paper examines innovative strategies academic libraries can adopt to address the 21st century learning challenges in Africa. The objective of the study is to identify some innovative strategies academic library can adopt to personalize library services and make library a more motivating learning environment for all category of patrons (students, teachers and researchers). The research questions include: What is the role of leadership in promoting academic library innovative strategies? In what ways can academic libraries personalize library services to motivate patrons to engage in research? What strategies can academic library adopt to make the library a more motivating and interesting learning environment for students? How can academic libraries strategize library services to support and encourage effective teaching? The study adopts a literature review using online databases searches: Scopus, Sciencedirect, Jstor, Ebscohost, and Google Scholar. The result will serve to guide practicing library professionals in Africa to repackage academic library services, physical spaces and resources towards effective learning and research in support of their parent institutions. The finding suggest there is a need to create more awareness through organized conferences and seminars on how academic libraries in Africa can repackage their services to enhance learning, teachning and research.
