Abstract:
Water is one of the essential requirements for effective school administration at all levels of educational institution. In Nigeria’s rural primary schools teachers, pupils and other stakeholders consume water daily either through liquid or food form. This of course, has contributed immensely to their survival, maintenance of clean school environment and upkeep of other academic activities in the school premises. Unfortunately, water supply in rural primary schools is utilized by teachers, pupils and other stakeholders with mixed feelings considering its source of supply. In urban and rural primary schools in Nigeria, sources of water supply differ and this has greatly affected the quality. Water supply in rural primary schools in Nigeria are through well, rain, tanker and river whereas that of the rural primary schools are through tap water and bore hole. Against this background, this paper discusses the state of water supply in Nigeria’s rural primary schools. The paper evolved an overview of sources of quality water supply. The paper also highlights the factors to determine the sustenance of quality water supply in order to achieve effective primary school administration rural areas. Finally, recommendations were made towards actualizing the sustenance of quality water supply in the administration of Nigeria's rural primary schools.
