Abstract:
The structure of the new degrees for the current curriculum, which was developed from the RD 1393/2007, is defined by modules, blocks and subjects. It also establishes the quantitative relationship among the issues and the general and specific competencies. Thus, each and every one of the general and specific skills are supported by some specific subject or area and the overall contribution of all of them leads to the acquisition of each competence and is correlated with the level of competition.

For students, it is important to acquire a set of core skills that allow them to develop their personal resources and integrate them into the specific competencies of each degree. For that reason, to train students in generic or core skills, the best is to plan teaching activities for its development that must be integrated into specific skills and subjects. Those skills (same as specific skills) are evaluated to demonstrate that they have acquired the required level. Also, although the Verifica curriculum memory, It has been included several core skills to develop in a particular subject. The teacher should focus in a specific core competence for its monitoring and evaluation.

In the paper presented we show the teaching methodology conducted for the development and evaluation of the core competency "Respect for the environment", integrated in some specific subjects within the Plant Production area of the Degree of Agricultural Engineer, as pilot experience transferable to the new degree. This general skill has been included in all the new degrees in the new curriculum, by The Technical University of Madrid.
