Abstract:
Technology and human capital has an important role in global business management. These elements have become fundamental inputs to make companies more efficient and competitive in a world where global trade dominates. The present paper conducts a study to determine how the use of technology and human impact on the productivity degree of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the metal mechanical sector of Ecuador. The metal mechanical group is one of the most representative sectors of the Ecuadorian economy, especially from the point of view of the revenues they produce and their contribution to the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). To measure the contribution of technology and labour fource, an econometric model is used, which uses variables such as production, capital, skilled and unskilled labor force and technology, main variables that, when combined, these variables define the individual contribution of each of them in the productive processes of the business organizations.
Additionally in this document, an analysis is made of how SMEs in the metal mechanical SMEs of Ecuador give importance to the contribution of human capital. Emphasis is given to aspects such as technical education and professional training of the workforce, knowledge and use of new technologies for daily work, and how these factors influence the productivity of companies in the in the metal mechanical industry.
