Abstract:
In Ecuador, small and médium sized enterprises (SMEs) in the metal mechanical industry contribute greatly to the country's growth, given that they generate employment and contribute to the creation of new products, which are marketed nationally and internationally . The objective of this study is to analyze the impact of the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) on the productivity of SMEs in the metal mechanical industry in Quito the capital of Ecuador. For the development of this research, the information provided by the personnel working in the SMEs metalmechanical was processed, identifying the access and use of ICT in the day to day management of enterprises, as well as the way in which these technological tools have contributed to increase their productivity. This study begins identifying the economic sectors in which the metal mechanical industry was developed in Quito, and then determines the different types of ICT used in this industrial group, also analyzes the advantages and disadvantages that the use of ICT provides in its production processes, and it concludes doing recommendations to contribute the determination of business strategies, which allow this business group to promote the change of the productive matrix in Ecuador.
