Abstract:
This work analyzes the design of an effective questionnaire for teachers of music in secondary and bachelor education about educational good practices. Its objective is focused on a collection of data that will allow us to know how they develop their professional work in their schools. The purpose of this tool is to help the observer to discern what kind of teachers have answered the questionnaire, through the data collected by it, to select those ones who fit to our conception of good teachers for a qualitative and depth analyses by rescuing their know-how skills in audiovisual documents. These documents will be suitable for being examples and models to implement the training of future teachers in this subject, who nowadays are participating in the Master studies of secondary education in the speciality of music at the University of Valencia. Within this Master studies one can find in most cases an specific student profile: a group of students who have just finished their studies at a Conservatory. During four years of training, they have chosen mostly the instructional profile for being an interpreter, so they have delved into instrumental technique and also they have been trained for a correct musical interpretation. In a smaller number of cases, students have focused their specialty on music pedagogy, musical direction or composition. From this group, those who graduated in pedagogy are the ones who have more knowledge about the teaching of music although pedagogy, in one sense, has been oriented towards pedagogy of teaching in conservatories which is qualitatively different from the one that has to be implemented in secondary schools. In these kind of schools students deal with the instruction subject on a compulsory basis by following the official lesson-plans and on an optional basis only in some cases although learning contents are not so professionalized as those related to the conservatory schools.
For these reasons, a team of professors of the master studies have felt the need to document good teaching practices of high school teachers of music in order to create a theoretical corpus of music didactics in this knowledge subject.
This work is part of a pre-competitive project approved by the official Service of Research and Scientific Policy of the University of Valencia.
