Abstract:
In the Vietnam General Education Curriculum 2018 (VGEC 2018), educational activities are mandatory (no longer considered extracurricular activities as in the previous curriculum stage) and are integrated within the subjects. However, there are differences in the educational activities for primary and secondary school levels in terms of names and meanings, aiming to guide students' academic progression beyond secondary school. Consequently, the organisation, management, and supervision of educational activities in the programme still provoke diverse opinions, particularly regarding the connection between different school levels. This study aims to comprehend the implementation and organization of educational activities for primary and secondary school students in comprehensive schools with multiple levels (including primary and secondary school levels) in Hanoi. A total of 30 comprehensive schools implementing VGEC 2018 were surveyed. One school leader from each school and 3 department-level education management officers were interviewed. Through analysis of the survey results and interviews with school and education department leaders, we have compared and highlighted the differences and interrelationships between primary and secondary school levels to propose effective measures for organising and managing educational activities at these levels.
