Abstract:
Correctly identified and set processes in enterprises are the basis for the operation of the enterprise, achieving set goals, increasing performance, preventing failures, and increasing the overall resilience of the enterprise. By assessing process risks, the enterprise identifies potential problems during process execution, which could cause process failure in the form of interruption of process flow, reduction of process capability or performance generated unnecessary costs, etc. Enterprises lack sufficient knowledge in the area of process risk assessment. The reason may be, among others, insufficiently processed theoretical background in the area of process risk assessment resulting in poorly available education in this area for managers. The surveys (Laitinen, 2021; Dvorský et al., 2020; Hudáková et al., 2023) show that not only knowledge in the area of process risk assessment but also knowledge of risk management as a whole is at a low level within enterprises. However, the positive thing is that enterprises are aware of this problem and are willing to educate themselves in the area of risk management.

The aim of the paper is to create an education program for managers in the area of process risk assessment in Slovakia so that they can better understand the identification of their own processes and the risks that may occur within the processes. Part of the goal will also be to describe the implementation, significance, and benefit of the education program for managers in the area of process risk assessment at the Faculty of Security Engineering, University of Žilina in Slovakia.

The starting point of the proposed education program will be various elaborated concepts, studies, surveys, and frameworks resulting from the experience of various institutions providing consultancy in risk management with a unique combination of academic excellence and practical relevance.

Methods to meet the set aim of the article will be used are, e.g. analysis of relevant sources, studies, surveys, authors' own experience, comparison of current knowledge and approaches, research and assessment of other knowledge from experts from practice and academia, synthesis and modelling of the proposed education program in the area of process risk assessment.

The benefit of the paper is to expand the portfolio of forms of education for managers that support the risk assessment of their own processes in enterprise under the conditions of the Slovak Republic. The proposed education program will be beneficial for top managers, key process managers, risk professionals, human resource professionals, regulators, and academics. The authors of the paper believe that they will find understanding and desire to learn from managers in Slovakia to gain experience in increasing the prevention of process failures and the overall resilience of the enterprise and in the improvement of processes.
