Abstract:
The current situation in the world caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need to be prepared for adverse situations in the business sector. According to worldwide studies, it is proven that crisis situations can be achieved through the application of enterprise risk management. Owners and managers of enterprises should have sufficient knowledge and skills of methods and tools for the effective application of enterprise risk management.

The authors of the paper realized empirical research focused on the issue of enterprise risk management in 2018-2019. There are, the level of use of risk management methods and tools was analysed and evaluated, as well as the level and form of education in the area of risk management.

The main aim of the paper is to present the results of research, evaluate the applicability of the use of risk management methods and tools and transform the current requirements from practice into the key subjects of the study program - Risk Management (Prevention of Enterprise Crises) for bachelor's studies at the Faculty of Security Engineering of the University of Žilina. Basic scientific methods and mathematical-statistical methods for processing research results were used to meet the established aim.

The processed results show that the most used methods and tools of risk management are control and audit. Based on research, the use of risk management methods and tools is low, but a great interest in education in this area. These are mainly methods and tools for assessing production, technological, and safety risks.

The proposed solutions are beneficial for other universities, which provide education in the area of risk management and they are interested in increasing the quality of education by respecting the current requirements of practice. The results are also for owners and managers of enterprises, who will gain an overview of methods and tools of risk management and education at universities in the addressed area.
