Abstract:
The period we live in is characterized by the use of technology, informatics, robotics and automation. We encounter technology in all areas of human life. Despite this fact, there is still a lack of technically educated people. Technical and science disciplines are unpopular and unattractive among students. In the Czech Republic, students are not interested in technical fields as well. There is a lack of technical and science subjects teachers. "Technical education as an human activity is not an easy area of human action, as it involves, on the one hand the formation of human individuals and, on the other hand, must provide freedom that will create space for excellence pupils' creativity." (National Institute of Education, 2017). Interest in technology and the development of technical thinking must be developed from primary education and continue in secondary and tertiary education. The basis is to arouse in children an inner motivation, which is based on natural curiosity and the need to discover. The natural activity of children is play. In primary school, it is necessary to use a game with a kit as a natural activity for developing pupils' technical literacy. The paper presents the results of research of using the kits for the development of technical thinking and interest in technical fields in primary school learning. The research focused on finding out the frequency of use of kits in teaching. The research also identified factors that prevent the use of kits in teaching.
