Abstract:
The current labour market is associated with many changes. While many employers retire, there is not enough young people to replace them. In addition, employers require the knowledge, skills and experience that are often associated with work experience, but also with soft skills that are difficult to obtain from a prospective employee. Regional schools but also colleges and universities try to react to these changes as well. After long years of discussions about the need to link the theory and practice, there is finally real cooperation between businesses and schools. The interconnection process is also partially guided by government regulations which in some cases make the process of interconnection more complicated. The article deals not only with the definition of a possible form of cooperation between enterprises and schools, but also with medium-term needs of the labour market in the Prešov Region in general and with emphasis on the trends in permanent changes related to Industry 4.0. In the example of the Prešov Region we will point out the differences that exist in individual regions of Slovakia and thus the need for a regional solution of the labour market, not the Slovak uniformity of problem solving.
