Abstract:
With the high-level integration of mobile communication technology and information network technology, We the Media is proposed as a new concept in Dan Gillmor’s book at this moment, and now has rapidly spread throughout the world. Meanwhile in the field of education, traditional learning models have been evolved from digitization to mobilization, then to miniaturization. Many experiments and statistics show that micro-learning can meet the learners’ personal requirements, which proves micro-learning is a very effective informal learning form. As an open, equal and free information sharing platform, We the Media has brought new opportunities and developments for micro-learning. In this paper, we summarize the features of micro-learning and analyze the learning function of We the Media. Then we investigate the essence, problems, functions and applications of mobile micro-learning with We the Media. Based on that, we propose a mobile micro-learning form for undergraduates to explain how to use the popular platforms of We the Media such as WeChat, Microblog to organize study activities. We also provide some operable strategies for undergraduates to self-study in the mobile micro-learning form we proposed.
