Abstract:
Digital electronics is a fundamental component of modern electronics and computing curricula. Laboratory exercises are integral to understanding digital circuits, typically involving both software simulation and physical realization. Traditional prototyping methods using non-programmable integrated circuits on universal protoboards are time-consuming and prone to errors.

To expedite and simplify circuit realization, programmable devices featuring highly integrated digital circuits offer a superior alternative. These devices, such as the PoKeys57U USB interface, are connected to personal computers and boast numerous programmable inputs and outputs. Programming these devices via specialized software facilitates the implementation of complex digital circuits and systems.

This paper explores the utilization of the PoKeys57U programmable USB interface for constructing and testing various digital circuits taught in Digital Electronics courses. It demonstrates the ease with which the PoBlocks graphical programming software can define and analyze circuits, as well as program the USB interface device. Through illustrative examples, it becomes evident that employing programmable USB interface devices alongside graphical programming tools enhances Digital Electronics laboratory exercises, streamlining circuit realization and testing processes.
