Abstract:
In these difficult times, we are forced to use all available technical means to ensure the continuity of the teaching process. In this article, we would like to share our experience in teaching computer science at the Faculty of Education of the University of Trnava in Trnava using the MS Teams platform and group and individual work with the help of Breakout rooms. Without the help of this technique, the teaching of programming would be less comfortable and very disturbing. Breakout rooms provide comfort similar to teaching in-person when the teacher traverses among the students within the classroom and gives them the necessary instruction to progress. We would also like to present a series of interactive teaching tools that we made to support the teaching of simple concepts such as numeric conversions (from and to binary) and logical and bitwise operations. The tools are used to learn and test these concepts. They were created with the intention of using them at primary and secondary schools, however, we are applying them in teacher training programmes to better visualise the concepts for future teachers and inspire them in their future praxis.
