Abstract:
The aim of this graduate thesis was to explore potential motor development opportunities for a child with Down syndrome, aged 5.6 years, and to determine the differences between initial and final measurement in some motor skills under the influence of kinesiological activities. Motivational activities are the foundation of learning and by using them the child at first gains first knowledge. A child with Down syndrome will stay longer at this stage of learning by movement. The motor skills of the child with Down Syndrome were measured with six different tests to test balance, coordination, repetitive and explosive power, speed and flexibility. We will influence the development of motor skills through basic activity activities, which are various movements, general preparatory exercises and manipulation of various objects. The research was conducted at the Center for Special Educational Needs, from December to June 2017 with a girl with Down Syndrome at the age of 5.6 years, in a kindergarten group of children with severe difficulties in development, between the ages of three and seven. Kinesiological activities are organized three times a week, for up to 60 minutes. The choice of content was conditioned by the motor skills of the Down syndrome girl. Systematic monitoring of the result of the managed process determines the optimum load for the girl due to its developmental characteristics. In this study, motor tests were used that are appropriate for preschool children and are suggested in the battery of measuring instruments that monitor the motor development of preschoolers. The results between initial and final measurement showed changes in the motor skills of a Down girl with Down syndrome. The girl achieved better results in the final measurement.
