Abstract:
The expert discussion on how to integrate the Roma ethnic group into active life in society has been going on in our country since the time of the construction of the socialist system in the former Czechoslovakia. Paradoxically, during this period of social development, the Roma were not perceived as a socially disadvantaged group. Today, the European Union's recommendations to educate Roma pupils from marginalised communities in an inclusive way are being applied in our school system. Children's drawing undergoes visible changes in individuals that result from the experiences and stimuli of the environment in which the child lives. It is therefore a sign of the development of an individual's intellect and emotional world. Changes in the artistic expression of Roma pupils, for example in the use of the colour scale, can then be seen as a sign of identification. The research is carried out in a primary school environment in eastern Slovakia where the concentration of Roma ethnicity is relatively high. Therefore, we have the possibility to compare the artistic expression of Roma pupils from segregated environments with works created in inclusive schools.
