Abstract:
It is very important for students from marginalized communities to support the creation of a stimulating environment at school, out-of-school environment, but also at home. From this point of view the paper analyses an issue associated with inclusive education of Roma ethnic group within the school system of the Slovak Republic. It describes the work on a project aimed at exploring the anticipated changes in the artistic expression of Roma pupils whose education and formation is realised together with pupils from majority population. The artistic expression of a selected group of Roma pupils educated in an inclusive environment is compared with the artistic works produced by Roma pupils living in marginalised communities. The authors follow the premise that cultural identity of an individual is influenced by communication with other cultures, namely by presence of new stimuli. Drawing expression is perceived as a manifestations of individual's cultural identification. Contact with art and the creative processes associated with it are therefore important determinants of cultural identification associated with social inclusion of Roma pupils.
