Abstract:
Quality and a variety of instructional services are in demand at all educational environments in contemporary society today. Therefore, faculty members must make an effort to continue to update and renew their ability to deliver diverse means of instructional services to meet the needs of students face-to-face and online. Faculty members at educational institutions must serve well diverse groups of students from various backgrounds; therefore faculty members must keep their own professional instructional delivery skill set current. Committed faculty members need to continue to seek ways to meet the differentiated needs of students timely and conveniently. The prevailing thoughts should be “how can faculty members meet” the diverse needs of students so that students’ gained educational skills, knowledge and experiences are globally competitive. By providing instructional services online, faculty members are able to meet the needs of more students in volume than in the traditional classroom setting. Online teaching helps to provide ways to satisfy teaching and learning needs of faculty and students. This research will present twelve best practices and ways to present online teaching in an effective manner by instructional faculty. Emphases will be placed on observing mentor teacher, tools for communication, designing curriculum collaboratively, expectations and time-lines asynchronous and synchronous activities, linkage of content resources, student engagement, concept and personalized learning, group/individual projects, student feedback, faculty self-reflection and smooth closing and linkage to new course work
