Abstract:
A graduation profile is an accumulation of characteristics, values, capacities, and competences that students must have at the end of a training process, to satisfy the social needs of the environment (Martínez, 2015). In addition, it is the set of characteristics that certify the competence of an individual and identify him as a trained expert. (Hawes and Corvalán, 2005). Pre-professional internship links academic training and the professional work through a set of actions carried out by a student with the intention to strengthen the learning process and professional preparation (León and Mayta, 2011). It is also a formative learning that allows university students to apply their knowledge, skills, and aptitudes, through the performance in different functions in a real work situation. (Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, s.f). However, it was evidenced that students in the Infant Education School of a public university do not carry out activities according to their graduation profile during pre-professional internship. Due to the fact that interns depend on the approval of the educational centers where they practice, they are summoned to the immediate authorities and have to switch the teaching role to cleaning chores and other activities which differ from the normal teacher´s duties; Therefore, the aim of this article is to identify the contribution of pre-professional practices to the graduation profile of the Early Childhood Education School, for which a survey and an interview were used as data collection techniques. The results of this article shows that most interns receive benefits in several aspects by carrying out specific activities according to the training stage, however, during this process they do not perform all the functions detailed in the graduation profile. It is recommended that the Early Childhood Education School implement regulations and agreements to grant the commitment of the educational centers where students practice, in order that the students as well as the educational centers receive mutual benefit.
