Abstract:
The degree in computer science curriculum taught at the University of La Cañada, provides in the third semester, the subject of Computer Architecture the objective of which is to provide students with the knowledge and skills that will enable them to suggest hardware solutions in an organization applying computer systems. Moreover, according to the curriculum map, the student has previously completed the courses Electronics I and II, in which in the last two courses of both materials -school cycles: 08-09 A, 08-09 B, 09-10 A and 09 -10 B-, has used the competencies evaluation method and within the same, the use of the circuit simulation as an educational technique.
Based on the above, and to meet the objective of the course, the present paper shows results, applying competencies evaluation method, which support the use of the circuit simulation as an educational technique for the three above mentioned materials, to do this, made a statistical analysis of the final scores of students in courses where they were evaluated traditionally against courses where they were evaluated by skills through the use of circuit simulation; finding success with the implementation of this method, since students have a better understanding of theoretical concepts and the operation of the circuits that make up the computer, is reflected in the increase rate of accredited.
