Abstract:
During the last seven years, the Fluid Mechanics Area at the University Jaume I has been testing different teaching and evaluation methodologies in two of their technical teaching subjects to assess different strategies to be followed to fulfil the forthcoming European Higher Education Area (EEES).

The main motivation of introducing these new methodologies was to improve the academic performance of students by trying to enhance the attendance of the students to the classes, encourage the continuous study of the subjects and motivating the study of the theoretical part before trying to solve the practical problems.

The experience of the last year was to introduce questionnaires during the classes, just after each of the theoretical units of the subjects. The mark in the questionnaires was taken into account in the final evaluation of the subject only if their average was above a certain mark and only in the case that the student had undertaken all questionnaires along the course. The questions in these tests were an approach to the practical application of the problems to be solved in the next part of the unit and also remarking the important parts to be remembered from the theory.

The experience is described in more detail, the learning results of the students along the course and in the final year marks are presented and also the student´s opinions collected in an anonymous survey is analysed.
