Abstract:
Recently, in different sources many reasons are stated why children should learn to code. Different sources mention different reasons with different explanations. Considering many sources the occurrence frequency of different reasons is varying.
The aim of this contribution is to give a comprehensive overview about the topic. Therefore, we carried out an extensive search in scientific documents and on the web. From the detected documents we extracted reasons, their definitions and explanations. This step was processed by reading as well as by the support of software for text analysis. The found reasons were cross checked for the purpose of identifying synonyms and overlappings. The intermediate result was a collection of reasons, explanations and frequency of their occurrence. To structure this intermediate result, we summarized the reasons in terms of content into categories.
As final result we got a model with about twenty reasons, summarized into six categories. This result was visualized as a cloud tag as well as a classification tree. Keywords:
Children, coding.
