Abstract:
In our modern society upbringing of a personality being able to work productively and effectively is one of the most significant goals. That is why a foreign language teacher should use relevant pedagogical means and technologies, which will be aimed at the formation of interest, curiosity, independence, persistence in the educational process in students. Intensive use of Internet technologies at the lessons of English is one of those pedagogical means aimed at the development of cognitive activity in students.

Nowadays traditional educational means occupy the leading role in foreign language teaching, but thanks to the use of various information and communication technologies, teaching environment can be varied by video, sound and animation. All these factors increase students’ motivation in learning activity and curiosity, enhancing motivation in studies and rising interest in foreign language learning. Motivation enhancement influences on the development of students’ Speaking skills.

Modern literature considers language teaching by means of computer technologies, while the question of teaching using Internet-technologies has not yet been studied profoundly which proves the relevance of this study – the use of Internet technologies in teaching Speaking at the secondary stage of education.

The purpose of the article is to study theoretical questions of teaching Speaking and to elaborate the methods of Internet-technologies use in the process of teaching Speaking. To attain the set goals the following research methods were used: theoretical study and synthesis of scientific and methodological literature as well as Internet resources related to the research topic; general scientific methods – analysis and synthesis; a set of tests in order to define the students’ level of knowledge; pedagogical survey and quantitative methods.

The research demonstrates the results of the pedagogical survey held among secondary school students. The survey showed the students’ interest in Internet technologies at the lessons of English, particularly video and audio podcasts are worth mentioning. Taking into account the children’s age, it is vivid that they were mostly interested in group work and work in pairs. The first conversation with students helped determine their current level of Speaking for further work on these skills enhancement. Comparing results of two groups of students – experimental and control one, we could come to the conclusion that work with Internet technologies at the lesson of English in experimental group was more effective and showed better results compared to “traditional lessons” in control group.

The survey together with the study have proved that the quality of educational process and its effectiveness depend on the correct organization of the use of Internet-technologies at the lesson. Abundance of visual aids while using Internet-technologies at the lessons of English language simplifies the process of knowledge acquisition. The use of Internet-technologies facilitates the formation of speech habits and skills - the core of communicative competence.

The practical importance of the study is that the results can facilitate the choice of information technologies for language teaching lessons.

This study was focused on the secondary stage of education, but further research could provide opportunities for analyzing the use of Internet-technologies at the high stage of education.
