Abstract:
Oncological disease is one of the most dreaded diseases that brings fear with it. Fear of treatment, fear of the consequences of oncological disease, fear of death and, of course, negatively affects the personality of its wearer. It is important to realize that in many cases, even after the end of the treatment, there will always be the threat of relapse or worsening of the original disease, or of the lifelong consequences of the primary disease and its side effects. The authors of the paper point to the fact that an individual with an oncological disease, due to the nature of the disease, due to the increased tendency to its recurrence, due to the impact of the disease and its treatment on the individual's personality and, of course, in a certain period of life, also possible consequences for his education, belongs to research areas of special pedagogy.

In the presented contribution, they therefore focused on the partial results of research focused on the subjective assessment and comparison of the quality of life of individuals with cured oncological disease and without overcome oncological disease, in the context of education and socialization. The paper presents the results of the subjective assessment of the cognitive abilities of individuals with cured oncological disease. The contribution is aimed at analyzing the level of cognitive abilities such as memory, thinking, concentration and logical thinking, as well as the possibilities and abilities of individuals to develop their knowledge, abilities and skills and learn new things.

The research was carried out using a quantitative method - a questionnaire, constructed on the basis of standardized questionnaires SQUALA and WHOQOL100. The distribution of the questionnaire to the respondents was carried out in electronic form. The research sample consisted of 24 individuals with a cured oncological disease aged 20-25, who had completed treatment at least five years ago. The contrasting sample consisted of 32 respondents aged 20-25 years without a history of oncological disease. The results were processed through mathematical-statistical methods in the EXCEL program, using the additional REAL STATISTIC program. After the analysis and evaluation of the data, the authors interpreted the results and formulated conclusions.

The results of the research significantly pointed to deficits in the field of cognitive abilities that occur in individuals with a cured oncological disease even more than 5 years after the end of treatment, compared to a contrasting sample of respondents. The presented findings draw attention to the need for transdisciplinary care for individuals with cured oncological disease. Last but not least, the research results open up other unanswered questions in the area of the issue of individuals with physical disabilities, illness and health impairment.
