Abstract:
The purpose of this workshop is to share perspectives on managing a global classroom. It seeks to discuss a comprehensive approach to classroom management.
The author will:
(1) Facilitate insights into understanding challenging behaviors based on cultural socialization, existential experiences and exceptionality;
(2) share perspectives on an integrative approach to classroom management as essential to a global and intercultural pedagogy; and finally,
(3) present various strategies for global and intercultural pedagogy.
This activity will be both instructional and interactive with three foci. Participants will enhance their understanding of approaches to:
(a) integrating global and multicultural perspectives in content;
(b) using multiple teaching and assessment methods that cater to various learning styles;
(c) discuss intrinsic and extrinsic motivation techniques that engage and keep learners on-task, and
(d) discern both proactive and reactive techniques in developing a global and intercultural pedagogy.
Expected outcomes include an understanding of approaches to developing a global and intercultural practice. Learning objectives will consist of an examination of the interface and the role of teacher educational philosophy, dispositions and technology in fostering a safe and global learning community.Keywords:
