Abstract:
Technologies brings changes in the teaching process as well as in the way higher education institutions operate and teach. Technologies significantly change the way knowledge is delivered, acquired and managed in higher education. However, the constant use of digital devices can have strong negative consequences. They are changing the requirements for the teaching and the speed of these changes increase the digital workload. The new demands on teaching are challenges that, in addition to the positive benefits, can bring stress and affect the quality and performance of teaching. However, higher education plays a key role in the personal and professional development of graduates leaving for working life but also contributes significantly to the overall progress of society. It is therefore important to explore the experience of digitization and to look for opportunities and common rules to enhance digital well being as part of everyday working life of stakeholders in the context of higher education institutions. Digital well being requires practical solutions, tailored recommendations, but also targeted, planned and consistent development work and training. The aim of this paper is to present the results of research on the impact of digitization on the management and teaching process in higher education institutions. The presented results represent outcomes of Erasmus+ project, carried out in cooperation with organisations from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Finland, Ireland, Denmark and Belgium. The project targeted two groups, higher education lecturers and higher education management. The project consisted of researching and analyzing the digital technology challenges faced by higher education lecturers and managers within the wider contemporary digital transition. The aim was to design, develop and implement a new approach to training higher education lecturers and managers in digital well being. The final result is to improve their own digital competence while increasing the ability of higher education institutions to manage the digital transition in a way that combines high quality teaching with stakeholder well being.
