Abstract:
This work presents the use of Senda Matrix software as a tool for control and planning for project development in the subject of the final design project (8th-semester civil engineering - Universidad de los Andes). In this course, the students develop and deliver a real project in the phases of the design lifecycle of an integrated civil project and it has to involve all areas of the Civil Engineering program. As a teaching and learning process, the integrated project delivery (IPD), Lean Construction and the problem-based learning (PBL) are used, through the adoption of some tools as last planner system, percent plan complete (PCC), pull management, among others. The main objective of the implementation of these tools is that the students make a cascade planning that allows a better control in order to reduce variability in the development of each phase of the project. This article explains how the students use the Senda Matrix software, implemented with Visual Basic for Excel, as a control and planning tool, which allows managing the Master and Phase Schedule, the Look ahead Schedule and the Weekly Work Plans that are obtained of the different Pull Sessions. This way, the students manage their work group and the development of the project with this software based on the principles and techniques of Lean Construction.
