Abstract:
Religious Education in Turkey has controversial history from establishment of The Republic at 1923 to the present considering existence and conditions of the religious educational classes in educational system. Despite of discussions, religious education is accepted as compulsory course in educational system from 1980s towards. In this process approach of regulation of religious education classes have changed from confessional religious education towards non-confessional religious education. To compensate chancing on the curriculum of compulsory religious education classes, at 2012 optional three courses about religious education which regulated according to confessional approach: Basic Knowledge About Islam, Life of Prophet Muhammad and Koran.
Considering arguments on necessity and needlessness of these courses we want to share results of our research on these three courses that depends on interviews with teachers of the courses from approach of development of educational program for religious education. In our research we try to understand effectiveness and achievement of the courses in aspects of subjects, methods, language of religion and appropriateness of educational level by examining curriculum and answers of teachers as applicators of curriculum.
