Abstract:
Social studies taking place in elementary education is as course that brings individuals knowledge, skills, attitudes, behaviors and values about making life easier and reflects real life. Due to its interdisciplinary content Social Studies course provide opportunity to present different concept, principle and also generalizations to students. However this situation is sometimes leads students to perceive Social Studies course as based on memorization. Therefore, with the aim of changing this point of view and giving the content efficiently it is needed to use different approaches, methods and materials in teaching and learning process. Especially, with developing information and communication technologies in nowadays tools like computer, television and internet should be used efficiently.

Social studies course provide opportunity to use different materials in classroom due to its structure. Accordingly, on the purpose of getting students’ attention, making learning concrete and enabling students to reach different information sources internet could be used effectively. Using internet in class develops students’ inquiry skills, enables them to reach contemporary topics and makes reaching sources easier. However, in order to make students reach these efficacies of using internet in classes, teachers should pay importance to internet, know how to use internet efficiently and consider the importance of using internet in Social Studies class. In this respect, the aim of this study is to determine students’ views about usage of internet in Social Studies courses. As part of this general aim answers to following questions will be searched.

• Which metaphores do students use to explain their perceptions about internet?
• What are the opinions of students about the benefits of usage of internet during indoor and outdoor activities taking place in Social Studies course?
Survey model will be employed in this study. Data will be collected via open-ended questionaire from 5th grade elementary students. Data will be analyzed by content analysis technique. The aim of study will be considered in presenting the findings.
